How to Create Roblox Private Servers? Are They Permanent?
Roblox private servers don't stay up all the time. Roblox has two main ways to get to private servers:
- Developer-created paid servers: The game developer sets up these servers, and players have to pay Robux (Roblox's virtual currency) to get on them. The price and length of access depend on the game and what the developer decides. It usually only works for a certain amount of time, like a day, a week, or a month, and needs to be renewed in order to keep using the server.
- Access to private servers through game passes: Some games let players make private servers for themselves and their friends through game passes. The game passes, on the other hand, are one-time purchases, not the private server itself. If you have a game pass, you can make and join private servers for free. However, the server itself will not stay in the game forever.
To put it simply, neither method gives you a truly permanent private server experience. To keep using a private server, you'll need to either renew your access or have a valid game pass that lets you create servers.
Private servers can be created and managed by the game owner, and they can be deleted or terminated at any time.
If you're considering creating a private server for your experience, follow these steps:
- Open your game in Roblox Studio.
- Go to the Home tab of the menu bar and navigate to Game Settings.
- Select Monetization.
- Enable the Private Servers toggle and select whether you want the servers to be free or paid.
- If you choose to monetize your private servers, enter the amount of Robux you want users to pay to access the server.
- Click the Save button to create your private server.
Set your experience to Public before you create a private server so that others can join. You can access this option in Game Settings and choose Public in the Permissions tab.
Private servers can be a great way to monetize your game, as you can charge users a monthly fee to access the server, but they carry additional administrative efforts.
