The Hannya mask with its sharp fangs and straight horns is probably the best known of all Noh masks.

That wooden, white mask is related to Japanese traditional folklore. The hannya is a mask that represents a female 「貴女 •（きじょ • kijo）」demon woman.

Those kind of 「鬼 •（おに • Oni）」always have been associated with their manifesting in evil, vengeful propensities. And that mask represents the woman, who have turned into Oni as a result of karma and resentment.
